Introducing Lady Kiansel of the Temple of Givneh. Her family has served the Temple for generations--and they have the ability to wield magic in service of others. Kia's father helped hold the barrier during the countering of Bashim's geas on Dal the archmage.
Her brother is the current head of the temple. But he wasn't always. For a time, an imposter, Bashim, used the devotion of the Oracle's followers to boost his magic. He transformed the community of service to a cult whose primary tenet was magic is evil. Except his of course, which was not used to help people but was based on banned black magic. It was during this time Kia received the scar on her forehead that her bangs cover. A scar received from one of the mercenaries who fulfilled Bashim's orders.
The dichotomy of Kiansel's life is illustrated in the pendant she inherited from her ancestress. Embossed with the symbol of the Oracle as her personal talisman it represents her attachment to the Temple. However, like her mother before her, Kia also feels the pull of magic. But to answer the call means having to turn her back on her family and the temple.
